We decided to let Silly Goose make the Christmas cards for everyone this year. He loved using my rubber stamps and ink to create his own masterpieces. I think he is going to be crafty like his mommy (at least I hope).
It is amazing how much little kids absorb when you tell them things. Silly Goose has a steel-trap mind and doesn’t forget a thing. Do you notice that about your kids too? He will remember something from several weeks or even months ago. He will want to have a conversation about something random that we did or said maybe once. He is so funny! I love having conversations with toddlers. Toddlers are so much more insightful than we adults give them credit.
*Just a side note, I am loving our new camera right now! It takes amazing pictures. After a ton of research and reading several blogs/websites, we settled on the Canon Rebel T3i. I bought the camera with the 18-135mm lens, based on several reviews and suggestions from other photographers. We are definitely under the NOVICE title though. I did not know that there were so many lens types out there (major brain overload). The 50mm f/1.8 seemed like a great lens to get a nice blurry background (bokeh, to use photography lingo), so we added that to our camera equipment. The photo above was taken using the 50mm lens. The one thing I have noticed is that you MUST make sure that the subject you want in focus is selected when you press the shutter down half-way. Otherwise, you will have a blurry-everything picture, unless you like that kind of thing.
I also edited the image in Photoshop Elements 10…Another side note, I bought PSE 10 at my local Costco for dirt-cheap with an instant rebate. You should check it out if you want the ability to edit photos to the extent that most amateur photographers or picture-lovers would. There are a ton of FREE PSE Actions out there that only require a simple click to take a picture from good to great. I used two PSE Actions with the picture above. I will discuss PSE Actions in another post all by itself.
Leave me a comment below if you have had great success or just love a certain lens or PSE Action. I’d love to hear about it!
See you next time,
Heather
